Tseng Wen-Chen is a documentary film director who also works on feature films. She teaches at the Department of Filmmaking at Taipei National University of the Arts and the Department of Radio and Television at National Chengchi University. Tseng is an award-winning filmmaker in Taiwan and international documentary film festivals. Her works are often presented in a delicate and gentle style, specializing in character stories.
Tseng has won the Best Documentary Film Award at the 39th Golden Horse Awards with Spring: The Story of Hsu Chin-Yu. This film participated in many domestic and foreign film festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and the Hong Kong International Film Festival Humanitarian Award Documentary Competition. She also directed the first lady Chiang Soong May-ling‘s biographical documentary Madame Chiang Kai-shek: A Legend Crosses Three Centuries for public television, which received high reviews both at home and abroad.
Tseng has been making documentary films on disadvantaged groups for a long time and. She is currently shooting a documentary about transnational migrant workers. Her works include the film Waiting for the Fishing Luck (2005), the documentary Spring: The Story of Hsu Chin-Yu (2002), What Makes Love Last (2015), Love before Sunset (2019), and The Lucky Woman (2020).
